Door to door collection allows the fundraising organizations to engage with supporters in their community at a time when they are at home. Great fundraising campaigns work when they inspire a connection between an individual and a cause. The value of a one on one conversation with a fundraiser in making that connection and talking about the value of a donation is one of the most powerful and meaningful ways to establish a relationship. Door to door fundraising often leads to immediate donation and response. This was the idea that drove DWO to initiate a door to door campaign to collect books and clothes through a team of enthusiastic volunteers. The campaign was titled as #EducationForAll.

Volunteers were divided into two teams, “The Social Media Group” and the “Field Group”. All of them were from reputed educational institutions. Most of them had already worked with DWO as volunteers. Field group was arranged in 7 different teams and all the teams were given a unique name. Team Passion and Markhor were allocated in Hayatabad area, Team Shaheen was in Warsak Road, Team Amigo in Gulberg, Team Leopard and Hope were allocated in Gulbahar Area.

A proper step by step plan was made on a geographical basis to make access to volunteers easy to their specific locations. Field volunteers were explained who and how to approach as a potential donor and how to deal with the queries from the general public. They were advised to take proper measurement to cope with the weather as it was quite hot on the campaign days.

It was very wonderful to see the youth coming out of their comfort zones and trying to help the underprivileged with such energy and enthusiasm. Moreover, the public’s response towards the campaign and volunteers was extraordinary. In just two days the teams met their targets and collected more stuff than planned.

In the same manner, the social media team was trained to be in contact with field volunteers all the time. Field volunteers updated their day to day activities through social media. Both the groups were briefed about the policy of the organization. All the volunteers worked hard to achieve the target set.

Their hard work was fruitful as all the stuff that had been collected by the volunteers through this door to door campaign was distributed among the children the very next day who were very excited to receive the gifts from their fellow citizens.  It was a fabulous activity that drove the cause of DWO to the next level in the general public.
