Dosti Welfare Organization (DWO) is a non-profit organization registered under section 19 of the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration and Control) Ordinance, 1961 (XLVI of 1961) with Social Welfare Department with registration number DSW/NWFP/1071. Since its foundation in 1996, Dosti has dedicated itself to provide education to the underprivileged children.
“Our mission is to provide the underprivileged children a basic education, necessary skills and useful strategies to acquire different opportunities in life and become a productive global citizen.”
How We Got Started
Very young children picking through garbage, begging on the streets or working long hours for very little compensation in labor were the highlighted issues. These children were not provided with the opportunity of receiving a quality education due to extreme poverty. Keeping this in view, Dosti Welfare Organization was founded in 1996. Dosti dedicated itself to improving the lives of these children and their communities through education and economic growth opportunities.
Where Are We Now?
So far, Dosti has sponsored different schools and vocational centers, as well as health and sanitation projects. It has introduced schools in these and other communities and has served to educate more than 10,000 children in little more than two decades. In January 2019, Dosti Welfare Organization took an initiative to implement a one of its kind project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through which we have been able to take education to four slum communities of the region.
